Does A Contractor Need A Website?
So you may be asking yourself, "do I really need a website as a contractor?" I mean after all, most of my work comes from referrals and a little advertising here and there. Do I really need to mess with a website? Would it be worth my time and money?
The real question is, do you want to reach customers that are not in your sphere of influence? How many potential customers could you be missing out on because they don't know you exist? More and more people are looking for a company online these days.
If you lived in Orlando, FL and decided you needed to find a painter to paint the exterior of your house how would you do it? Sure you may ask your friends and family first to see if they know someone, that will always be the best way to find a good reliable contractor. But think about it...
If you no one around you knows a good painting contractor, what about searching Google for a painter? How would you search Google for a painter? You would probably search your city first and then the type of contractor you're looking for. What about "Miami painter" or "Miami painting" or "painters Miami"? Do you think this happens much across America today?
According to Google "Miami painter" is searched about 1,000 times monthly as an average. Wouldn't you like to get some of those customers who are searching for a painter in your city? "Miami painting" is searched about 5,400 times monthly as an average according to Google. That's an even better number of potential leads for your website. It might be mentioned here that key words and content for your website are a very important topic which we happen to cover in an article we called Best Keywords For Your Contracting Company. If you're serious about getting leads, you might want to read it.
So why would anyone pass up so many potential leads when you could capture at least a small percentage of those searches? I don't know, but you as a contractor need to take advantage of the laziness of much of your competition and use "sticky website" to capture those customers who want to find your business.
